qi and blood deficiency

Qi and Blood Deficiency describes insufficient functional energy together with inadequate nourishment from Blood. Qi weakness may appear as fatigue, shortness of breath, a quiet voice, poor appetite, spontaneous sweating, or symptoms that worsen with exertion. Blood deficiency adds pallor, dizziness, palpitations, dry skin or hair, blurred vision, numbness, scanty menstruation, or restless sleep. Because each deficiency can weaken the production and circulation of the other, the presentation is often chronic and diffuse rather than sharply localized. The tongue is typically pale and may be thin or slightly swollen; the pulse is commonly weak, thin, or forceless. TCM interpretation centres on a combined failure to animate, protect, and adequately nourish the tissues.
