Modern Research Perspective
Lindera constituents show antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, smooth-muscle, and urinary-tract effects in laboratory and animal research. Human evidence is mostly historical or from small combined-herb studies for dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain, or urinary symptoms. Species authentication and dose standardization are important; isolated-root efficacy and long-term safety remain insufficiently established.
Traditional Function
In traditional Chinese medicine, Lindera root is warming and qi-regulating. It is used to move constrained qi, disperse cold, relieve lower abdominal or flank pain, and support urinary frequency associated with cold-stagnation patterns.
