Modern Research Perspective

Solomon’s Seal rhizome contains steroidal saponins, polysaccharides, flavonoids, and other constituents. Cell and animal studies have examined antioxidant, immune, metabolic, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-protective pathways, but evidence is mainly preclinical.

Human clinical evidence for a standardized single material is limited. Dose, glucose effects, interactions, botanical authentication, and long-term safety require better controlled research.

Traditional Function

In traditional Chinese medicine, Solomon’s Seal Rhizome is sweet and neutral. It is used to nourish yin, moisten the Lung, benefit the Stomach, generate fluids, and support deficiency-related fatigue or dryness. Its use is interpreted according to yin-fluid deficiency.
